GOOD MORNING, The markets are mixed this morning, though corn posted a new contract high during the night session. Corn had an outside week, reversing higher which set the course for further fund buying. Last week, China purchased a huge amount of US corn due to their internal deficits, with some analysts calling for China to possibly import 30 mmt of corn, which could include 5.0 mmt from Ukraine, 3.0 from Brazil, and 22.0 mmt from the US. As we begin a new month, the pressure of bean harvest in SA will keep beans on the defensive on good rallies while corn will experience less pressure. WPI’s team was retained by the governing board of a U.S. industry organization to review a decision, reached by vote, to invest significant assets into the development and management of an export trading company. WPI’s team conducted a formal review of this decision and concluded that the current level of market saturation would limit the benefits of the investment. Based on WPI’s analysis and recommended actions, the board subsequently reversed its decision and undertook a strategic planning effort to identify more impactful investments.
