Russian Grain Markets: 30 December 2024 – 3 January 2025As of the end of 2024, Russian Statistics Agency (RosStat) statistics show “preliminary” grain crop size at 124.96 MMT without including occupied territories of Ukraine, but including annexed Crimea. RosStat can issue “preliminary” updates of the previous year’s crop all the way until the new harvest is ready. Sometimes, the final numbers are ready by the year’s end and sometimes by Q1 of the next year. Although the above number is not as impressive as last year’s 144.9 MMT (2023), it is still better than the five-year average of 134 MMT. Weighing in on strategic realignment
WPI’s team was retained by the governing board of a U.S. industry organization to review a decision, reached by vote, to invest significant assets into the development and management of an export trading company. WPI’s team conducted a formal review of this decision and concluded that the current level of market saturation would limit the benefits of the investment. Based on WPI’s analysis and recommended actions, the board subsequently reversed its decision and undertook a strategic planning effort to identify more impactful investments.
