Russian Grains Markets: 16-20 May 2022 As of 17 May, spring planting was in line with last year, yet still behind 2020 by 40 percent and 2019 by 30 percent, according to the Russian Ministry of Agriculture. Earlier in the season the government was trying to stabilize prices for inputs and banned ammonium nitrate exports. While most of the inputs grew in price, fuel prices remained relatively stable. Experts believe that input costs are 20 percent higher compared to 2021. The government is offering low interest loans, but they are unlikely to cover everybody’s needs. Consistent with WPI's findings, local production to supply the plant and the facility's output have expanded exponentially since the investment.
