One of the reasons was a decrease in demand for wheat and barley in southern regions from exporters who reached the limit of quotas allowed by the government. Corn prices increased in all regions of Russia. Meanwhile on the export market, milling wheat average price decreased to $222/MT FOB Black Sea. Purchase prices decreased to RUB 14,300/MT. On behalf of a private U.S. agricultural technology provider, WPI’s team generated an econometric model to forecast the movement of concentrated corn production north and west from the traditional U.S. Corn Belt.
