Russian Grain Markets: 27-31 May 2019 Prices on the domestic market again either mostly declined moderately or remained stable in RUB expression, but the decreases were higher in USD expression. Export prices for 2019 wheat (12.5 percent protein content) grew significantly to $195-198/MT FOB Black Sea, but that average price for 2018 wheat remained at $208/MT FOB with little trade. The 2019 feed barley export prices averaged $170/MT FOB Black Sea, and the average 2018 export price dropped to $178/MT FOB. Weighing in on strategic realignment
WPI’s team was retained by the governing board of a U.S. industry organization to review a decision, reached by vote, to invest significant assets into the development and management of an export trading company. WPI’s team conducted a formal review of this decision and concluded that the current level of market saturation would limit the benefits of the investment. Based on WPI’s analysis and recommended actions, the board subsequently reversed its decision and undertook a strategic planning effort to identify more impactful investments.
