The total area harvested is 18.1 Mha, which is 6.5 Mha behind last year. Specifically, wheat was harvested from 14.2 Mha versus 16.9 Mha (62.8 MMT) a year ago, barley was harvested from 2.4 Mha versus 4.9 Mha and totaling 8.8 MMT, and rice was harvested from 406,400 ha versus 780,700 ha last year and totaling 1.1 MMT. This year, the average yield has increased for all the above crops. In some areas, winter crop planting has begun but is behind compared to last year.
