The volume of the grain produced was 35.7 MMT, with the average yield of 2.84 MT/hectare. Specifically, wheat was harvested on 9.4 million hectares (28.7 MMT produced with the average yield of 3.07 MT/hectare), barley was harvested on 1.5 million hectares (3.6 MMT produced, the average yield of 2.4 MT/hectare) and rapeseed was harvested on 179,000 hectares (304,300 MT produced, the average yield of 1.7 MT/hectare). Communicating importance of value-added products
Facing increasing pressure to quantify the value of export promotion efforts to investors, a U.S. industry organization retained WPI to develop a quantitative model that better communicated the importance of exports. The resulting model concluded that value-added meat exports contributed $0.45 cents per bushel to the price of corn, increasing support for that sector’s financial support of WPI’s client. In addition to serving the red meat industry with this type of analysis, WPI has generated similar deliverables for the U.S. soybean and poultry/egg industries.
