Grains and the soy complex were mixed in the overnight session with soy lower and grains firmer. The volume of overnight trade was good with 19,000 March corn contract traded and 17,000 contracts of March soybeans and almost 7,000 contracts of March Chicago wheat. The day session, however, featured predominantly higher prices with grains and the entire soy complex finishing in the green for the day. In the livestock complex, only feeder cattle lost ground and live cattle and lean hogs finished with solid gains. Grains gains were largely attributed to tightening in global corn supplies (not that supplies are “tight”, just tighter than was thought yesterday) while the soy complex was higher largely on sympathy buying. ...
