Light trading volume gave way to slightly higher wheat prices, afternoon weakness in corn and lower closes in soybeans. The trade is reevaluating market fundamentals after the volatility of the past few trading days.  American trade politics are increasingly volatile as well, with Mexico today announcing “equivalent” tariffs on U.S. farm products entering the country. The measures are reported to specifically target pork legs, apples, grapes, cheeses, and steel, among other products.  Not to be left out, Canada also announced retaliatory measures against the U.S., applying tariffs on whiskey, orange juice, other food products, as well as steel and aluminum.
