COP26 Informs MC12 COP26 has ended and MC12 is about to begin and while the substance is vastly different, both share the goal of reaching global agreement to do important things. On both topics, the world is divided: rich versus poor, transatlantic versus Asia. Climate campaigners mounted protests in Glasgow, but anti-trade protests ended years ago. COP26 achieved some recognition of issues and a few vague actions to remediate the situation. The pressure at Glasgow was to save the planet, the goal in Geneva is to save the reputation of the WTO. Some will be happy if MC12 is like COP26 where there is at least agreement on the problems and some rhetorical progress.
