A number of lawmakers had been seeking an immediate waiver for E15 this summer, but the deadline for that has passed. E15 cannot be sold from 1 June to 15 September, and no such waiver was implemented by that start date. The administration, however, is expected to soon announce a deal that would permit E15 to be marketed year-round coupled with a plan to allow ethanol exports to generate RINs. That plan could be tabled as early as tomorrow. That proposal, though, is expected to be published in the Federal Register and subject to public comments. On behalf of a private U.S. agricultural technology provider, WPI’s team generated an econometric model to forecast the movement of concentrated corn production north and west from the traditional U.S. Corn Belt.
