Regional News Cold temperatures are forecast for most of western and all of eastern Europe and Ukraine this week while southern Russia sees a slightly warmer trend. The cold weather is increasing the risk of winterkill in winter wheat crops from eastern Europe through Ukraine. Scattered showers will bring beneficial moisture for crops that are dormant in the north as well as crops in the south that are starting to vegetate. WPI notes crops in southern Russia will see warmer-than-average weather this week but bitter cold temperatures next week, that will significantly increase winterkill risks for the region’s wheat. Infrastructure investment due diligence
On behalf of a Canadian oilseed processer WPI's team provided market analysis, econometric modeling and financial due diligence in support of a $24 million-dollar investment in a Ukrainian crush plant. Consistent with WPI's findings, local production to supply the plant and the facility's output have expanded exponentially since the investment. WPI has conducted parallel work on behalf of U.S., South American and European clients, both private and public, in the agri-food space.
