MSP Raised for Key CropsIn a bid to incentivize farmers, the government of India (GOI) has announced an increase in the Minimum Support Price (MSP) for several of the 2014/15 winter-sown crops including wheat, mustard, barley, chickpeas and masoor (red lentil), etc. The crops will be marketed in the 2015/16 season.The increases, based on the Commission of Agricultural Costs and Price (CACP) recommendations, are nominal as GOI wishes to keep a tab on inflation.
