USDA will release its monthly WASDE report next week on 12 July. This will be the first to include the tariffs in effect on U.S. ag exports to Canada and Mexico, which are retaliation for those imposed by the U.S. on steel and aluminum imports, in the projections. Canada has implemented new tariffs on $12.6 billion worth of U.S. goods. The retaliation list consists of items that will put political pressure on the Trump administration (e.g. steel, forest products and other manufactured goods) while trying to minimize the impact on Canadian consumers. Weighing in on strategic realignment
WPI’s team was retained by the governing board of a U.S. industry organization to review a decision, reached by vote, to invest significant assets into the development and management of an export trading company. WPI’s team conducted a formal review of this decision and concluded that the current level of market saturation would limit the benefits of the investment. Based on WPI’s analysis and recommended actions, the board subsequently reversed its decision and undertook a strategic planning effort to identify more impactful investments.
