Weakness in soymeal and the soy complex was the major feature at the CBOT today. The soy complex is increasingly worried about the demand implications of the livestock sector’s imploding income statements, and that left soymeal to post new contract lows today. The weakness in meal pulled soybeans and soyoil lower, with EU rapeseed and ICE canola futures doing little to offer support. Corn found some support from the unwinding of previously entered long wheat/short corn spreads as the wheat market came under significant pressure from profit taking and technical selling. Weighing in on strategic realignment
WPI’s team was retained by the governing board of a U.S. industry organization to review a decision, reached by vote, to invest significant assets into the development and management of an export trading company. WPI’s team conducted a formal review of this decision and concluded that the current level of market saturation would limit the benefits of the investment. Based on WPI’s analysis and recommended actions, the board subsequently reversed its decision and undertook a strategic planning effort to identify more impactful investments.
