There was apparently a lack of incentive to either buy or sell grain and soy futures in the overnight session, and that carried over into the day session as well. Whether or not today’s midterm election had anything to do with the quiet low volume trade is problematic. The fact is that election aside, markets had precious little to generate trade or price movement today. Anticipation of Thursday’s November WASDE may have also discouraged trade since big market-moving changes are not expected. Markets traded both sides of Monday’s closes but really did very little.
