A lack of follow-through buying in wheat during the overnight session created a weaker open at the CBOT today. Soyoil led the soy complex lower while corn moved to slight losses in extremely low volume trading. Wheat gave back most of its gains from yesterday, signaling that yesterday’s rally was a short-covering event, not an effort to get long. The weather remains cold across the eastern portions of the Midwest as well as the East Coast with a slight warming trend developing into the weekend. Freeze potential continues to exist as far south as Kansas and Oklahoma in the near-term. On behalf of a Canadian oilseed processer WPI's team provided market analysis, econometric modeling and financial due diligence in support of a $24 million-dollar investment in a Ukrainian crush plant. Consistent with WPI's findings, local production to supply the plant and the facility's output have expanded exponentially since the investment. WPI has conducted parallel work on behalf of U.S., South American and European clients, both private and public, in the agri-food space.
