The CBOT was expectedly quiet today ahead of the Christmas holiday. Fresh news was hard to come by overnight and the markets traded a tight range with little interest in making significant moves one way or another. The weather in South America remains friendly and Argentina’s drought risk is diminishing. Overall, there was the typical lack of trading interest and/or news to spark excitement at the CBOT. Yesterday’s Export Inspections report featured disappointing corn shipments but bullish soybean and wheat exports. Despite a 20 percent weekly reduction in soybean inspections, the shipment volume exceeded the needed value by roughly 50 percent.
