Friday’s trade was largely all about macroeconomic markets with traders showing little interest in adding risk to portfolios as the U.S. stock market melted down in early trade. Concerns about another 75-bps rate hike from the Fed and warnings about future earnings from Fortune 500 companies put equity and macro-market traders on edge Friday. Those concerns rippled over into the CBOT, though market action remained relatively subdued. Wheat was the upside leader in a late-day rally, while corn and soybeans drifted lower but recovered most of their losses by the day’s end. On behalf of a Canadian oilseed processer WPI's team provided market analysis, econometric modeling and financial due diligence in support of a $24 million-dollar investment in a Ukrainian crush plant. Consistent with WPI's findings, local production to supply the plant and the facility's output have expanded exponentially since the investment. WPI has conducted parallel work on behalf of U.S., South American and European clients, both private and public, in the agri-food space.
