U.S. beef imports have trended higher, with an especially large boost from Brazil back in January. But North America (Canada and Mexico) and Oceania (Australia and New Zealand) remain the main suppliers. U.S. beef exports still surpass beef imports by more than a third. Japan, South Korea and China remain the major buyers of U.S. beef. Canada dominates as a supplier of pork to the U.S. market, with Mexico the overwhelming favorite for U.S. pork exports. On behalf of a Canadian oilseed processer WPI's team provided market analysis, econometric modeling and financial due diligence in support of a $24 million-dollar investment in a Ukrainian crush plant. Consistent with WPI's findings, local production to supply the plant and the facility's output have expanded exponentially since the investment. WPI has conducted parallel work on behalf of U.S., South American and European clients, both private and public, in the agri-food space.
