Ethanol After Argentina's large investment in biodiesel plants during the last few years, the next step will be developing corn crushing plants to produce ethanol. Nowadays there are more than 20 projects in the country, and it is estimated that about $1,500 million are needed for these plants. The projects would have a significant impact on the corn sowing area since there would be higher demand. This could increase the area by a minimum of 10 percent in the short term.
