Wheat January saw improvements in logistics and trucks arriving to upriver ports so the vessel lineup ended slightly above December at 1.5 MMT. South ports are facing a different situation, however, as independent truck drivers are still blocking access to the Necochea and Bahia Blanca terminals and wheat is mostly arriving via train. For the months, 1.1 MMT was loaded at upriver ports and just 0.4 MMT from south ports. The volume loaded in south ports typically starts increasing in January. Some Argentine farmers are starting to have financial problems as they cannot deliver grain and collect payment. Weighing in on strategic realignment
WPI’s team was retained by the governing board of a U.S. industry organization to review a decision, reached by vote, to invest significant assets into the development and management of an export trading company. WPI’s team conducted a formal review of this decision and concluded that the current level of market saturation would limit the benefits of the investment. Based on WPI’s analysis and recommended actions, the board subsequently reversed its decision and undertook a strategic planning effort to identify more impactful investments.
