- It appears that wet weather will continue to cause planting delays across the northern Plains and the Corn Belt. The two maps below show the five-and seven-day precipitation forecasts for the U.S. starting today. Another major storm system could drop heavy, wet snow across a very wide band from South Dakota and Nebraska through southern Minnesota, northern Iowa and into Wisconsin. It will rain south of the snow band. This next round of possibly heavy precipitation comes on top of already very wet soils in these states.
