Environmentalists in Europe are reportedly furious over the European Parliament’s Environment Committee approving the use of some new genomic techniques (NGTs) in an unregulated manner. One framing is that the conservative members of the Committee pushed it through, but conservatives comprise a minority of the Parliament and the Committee. Greenpeace argues this will threaten the rights of farmers, though it increases the rights of farmers in terms of what they grow.
