Soybean Plantings in Argentina Delayed by Flooding Last year Argentina suffered a severe drought that sharply cut its soybean production. This year the problem is early season flooding that is delaying the planting of corn and soybeans. A report yesterday indicated that as many as 14 million hectares of farmland in Buenos Aires and Santa Cruz provinces were so flooded they cannot be planted, according to Luis Etchevere, head of the Argentine Rural Society.
