Argentina Lowers Soymeal Protein Guarantee Argentina's oilseed processing association (CIARA) recently notified all of the country's buyers of soymeal that its members have lowered the minimum protein requirement for soymeal from 47 percent to 46.5 percent. The association said the reduction was necessitated by a decline in the average protein content of Argentina's soybeans that it believes is now irreversible. Under the new guarantee, soymeal prices will be reduced on a one-to-one basis if the protein content falls between 46 percent and 46.49 percent and on a two-to-one basis if the protein content of shipments is between 45.5 percent and 45.99 percent.
