FDA Moves to Ban Use of Trans Fats in Foods The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) today proposed removing partially hydrogenated vegetable oils from the Generally Recognized as Safe (GRAS) list of food products, because they contain trans fats that have been linked to heart disease. This would effectively ban the use of partially hydrogenated soyoil and other vegoils in food in the United States.
