Brazil's ABIOVE today raised its forecast for the country's 2016 soybean crop from 97.8 MMT to 98.6 MMT. That is less than the forecasts of USDA and the Brazilian government, which are projecting a harvest of 100 MMT or greater. However, it is far from certain that the crop will be as large as estimated. Pakistan Begins to Export Soymeal Pakistan has long been a significant importer from India. However, it has built its own soybean crush capacity because of rising domestic soymeal demand and the sharp decline in Indian soymeal exports. USDA is forecasting Pakistan will import 850,000 MT of soybeans in 2015/16, up from 350,000 MT in 2014/15 and only 11,000 MT in 2013/14. Communicating importance of value-added products
Facing increasing pressure to quantify the value of export promotion efforts to investors, a U.S. industry organization retained WPI to develop a quantitative model that better communicated the importance of exports. The resulting model concluded that value-added meat exports contributed $0.45 cents per bushel to the price of corn, increasing support for that sector’s financial support of WPI’s client. In addition to serving the red meat industry with this type of analysis, WPI has generated similar deliverables for the U.S. soybean and poultry/egg industries.
