U.S. Soy Export Sales Update USDA announced yesterday that exporters had sold an additional 586,000 MT of soybeans to China with all but 63,000 MT to be shipped in the current marketing year. This brought total reported soybean sales to China since its delegation last visited Washington to 3.801 MMT. USDA also indicated exporters had reported sales of 182,000 MT of soybeans to unknown destinations, bringing that total reported this week to 456,000 MT. Today’s weekly export sales report covered the week ending 27 December 2018. It indicated net soybean sales totaled 1,051,500 MT for shipment in 2018/19 and 5,300 MT for shipment in 2019/20. Communicating importance of value-added products
Facing increasing pressure to quantify the value of export promotion efforts to investors, a U.S. industry organization retained WPI to develop a quantitative model that better communicated the importance of exports. The resulting model concluded that value-added meat exports contributed $0.45 cents per bushel to the price of corn, increasing support for that sector’s financial support of WPI’s client. In addition to serving the red meat industry with this type of analysis, WPI has generated similar deliverables for the U.S. soybean and poultry/egg industries.
