The Case for an Average U.S. Soybean Yield Below USDA’s Forecast USDA’s most recent forecast for the average U.S. soybean yield in 2019 is 47.9 bushels per acre (3.22 MT/hectare). That is below the average of the last 3 years. However, is it still too high? A look at the most recent soybean condition report suggests it likely is. Monday’s crop condition report indicated that 54 percent of the soybeans in the 118 states surveyed by USDA were rated as either good or excellent.
