Soft Drink Taxes Need Study New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg stirred a wide array of opinions when he suggested limiting soft drink sales to 12 ounces. Apparently the matter is in dispute amongst academics as well. Chicago's Booth School of Business surveys national economists for their views on topical issues. The latest query to the panel was about the effectiveness of soft drink taxes in addressing obesity.
