A large majority of respondents in WPI’s most recent survey do not expect a global recession by 2020 (see graph below). Meanwhile, U.S. farmer confidence drifted 2 percent lower last month in the Purdue University/CME Group survey, but future expectations have been trending higher over the past year. Those surveyed remain very concerned over the financial health of their operations, but a large majority believe that the trade dispute with China will be settled in a manner beneficial to them, and slightly over half believe the agreement will occur by 1 July. Weighing in on strategic realignment
WPI’s team was retained by the governing board of a U.S. industry organization to review a decision, reached by vote, to invest significant assets into the development and management of an export trading company. WPI’s team conducted a formal review of this decision and concluded that the current level of market saturation would limit the benefits of the investment. Based on WPI’s analysis and recommended actions, the board subsequently reversed its decision and undertook a strategic planning effort to identify more impactful investments.
