A new study in the Annals of Internal Medicine concludes that there is no reason for adults to reduce current levels of unprocessed red meat and process meat consumption. The news is obviously good for the beef, pork, and poultry industries (and, I guess, the lamb industry too, to the benefit of all 27 U.S. sheep farms) but it is causing outrage among scientists and nutritionists. The outrage is supposedly about poor research methods but looks more akin to political posturing and a stuffy resistance to new ideas. On behalf of a Canadian oilseed processer WPI's team provided market analysis, econometric modeling and financial due diligence in support of a $24 million-dollar investment in a Ukrainian crush plant. Consistent with WPI's findings, local production to supply the plant and the facility's output have expanded exponentially since the investment. WPI has conducted parallel work on behalf of U.S., South American and European clients, both private and public, in the agri-food space.
