USDA’s projection for U.S wheat in the current 2023/24 season is total U.S. wheat production of 1,665 million bushels. This is a production level that is similar to the prior 2022/23 season's production of 1,650 and similar to the 2021/22 level of 1,646 million bushels. U.S. ending stocks of total wheat in the 2023/24 season are forcast to be 562 million busels, similar to the 2022/23 ending stocks total of 598 million bushels. The average farm price per bushel is projected to decline from $8.85 in 2022/23 to $7.70 per bushel in 2023/34. The decline in the seasonal average price of U.S. wheat from 2022/23 to 2023/24 is partly because of the modest increase in global ending stocks from 267 to 271 million metric tons.  ...
Weighing in on strategic realignment
WPI’s team was retained by the governing board of a U.S. industry organization to review a decision, reached by vote, to invest significant assets into the development and management of an export trading company. WPI’s team conducted a formal review of this decision and concluded that the current level of market saturation would limit the benefits of the investment. Based on WPI’s analysis and recommended actions, the board subsequently reversed its decision and undertook a strategic planning effort to identify more impactful investments.
