The leaks of the most recently proposed ethanol volumes for 2014 underscore an issue that has been going on since 2007 – miles driven by American motorists are less each year. With that, the 10 percent blend wall is easier to meet with less ethanol. The statutory requirement for conventional corn-based ethanol in 2014 was supposed to be 14.4 billion gallons. WPI’s team was retained by the governing board of a U.S. industry organization to review a decision, reached by vote, to invest significant assets into the development and management of an export trading company.
