The World Health Organization’s Eastern Mediterranean Regional Office issued an advisory recently that advised people to consume unsaturated fats such as those in fish, avocado, nuts, olive oil, soy, canola, sunflower and corn instead of the saturated fat in meat, butter, palm and coconut oils, cream, cheese, ghee and lard. Malaysia is the second largest producer of palm oil and reacted to the guidance by calling it "antiquated." Palm oil and beef comprise roughly the same tonnage levels of global disappearance.  While coconut oil sales are less than 5 percent of palm oil sales, they have technically been growing faster.
