GOOD MORNING Prices are mostly higher with beans in the lead this morning as the markets attempt to define trading ranges heading into the December 10 WASDE. Beans are higher on the talk that China has returned on the break as a bean buyer, and perhaps corn for a later time-slot. Gulf bids are also slightly higher indicating some demand around. The end-of-month money flush could be behind us, as the market returns its focus to demand and weather. The break also alleviated overbought bean and meal positions, bringing them more into balance. Forecasting developments in production agriculture
On behalf of a private U.S. agricultural technology provider, WPI’s team generated an econometric model to forecast the movement of concentrated corn production north and west from the traditional U.S. Corn Belt. WPI’s model has subsequently provided quantitative support to a multi-million-dollar investment into short-season corn variety development.
