GOOD MORNING, Prices are mostly mixed this morning with soyoil and oilshare higher. Wheat charts broke down a touch as major support lines were crossed. The chart will now have to re-establish support again or wheat will work lower. Soyoil prices appear ready to possibly work higher again after walking back to important moving averages that for now appear to hold. The domestic bean basis continues to firm, and as we near the Feb. 15 deal deadline, more shorts could cover in their bean position. Forecasting developments in production agriculture
On behalf of a private U.S. agricultural technology provider, WPI’s team generated an econometric model to forecast the movement of concentrated corn production north and west from the traditional U.S. Corn Belt. WPI’s model has subsequently provided quantitative support to a multi-million-dollar investment into short-season corn variety development. WPI’s methodology included a series of interviews with regional grain elevators and seed consultants.
