GOOD MORNING, Prices are slightly lower to begin the session after reaching temporary highs on a market bounce off contract lows. Seasonally corn and bean prices have a tendency to firm from May into July. Macro events have taken prices to yearly lows and then some. Confirmation of export business for beans to China firmed the soy complex this week, while firmer crude oil futures helped soyoil to push higher. Bean and meal spreads narrowed as well, particularly beans. However, rallies are still not met with buyers chasing, and more short-term bulls are taking profits on small rallies as fundamentals are still not in the bullish camp. Weighing in on strategic realignment
WPI’s team was retained by the governing board of a U.S. industry organization to review a decision, reached by vote, to invest significant assets into the development and management of an export trading company. WPI’s team conducted a formal review of this decision and concluded that the current level of market saturation would limit the benefits of the investment. Based on WPI’s analysis and recommended actions, the board subsequently reversed its decision and undertook a strategic planning effort to identify more impactful investments.
