The soybean trade issue was a hot topic across farm country during the midterm election, although it didn’t seem to hurt Republicans. Incumbent Senator Heidi Heitkamp (D-North Dakota) pounded on this in her campaign, but she still lost by a wide margin. On behalf of a private U.S. agricultural technology provider, WPI’s team generated an econometric model to forecast the movement of concentrated corn production north and west from the traditional U.S. Corn Belt.
