Russian Grain Markets: 2 – 6 June 2025 The grain market continued the transition from old crop to new crop meaning that the bearish trend is now across the board for all grains. The biggest bear was registered in the wheat belt which is located close to the export terminals as export demand at the moment is weak. The beginning of the new season is near and there may be more demand in the ports. Russia is already harvesting in annexed Crimea but officially because of sanctions, they will not be able to export this grain from Crimea and need to consume it domestically or move it inside the country which will add freight and decrease margins which are low already. Weighing in on strategic realignment
WPI’s team was retained by the governing board of a U.S. industry organization to review a decision, reached by vote, to invest significant assets into the development and management of an export trading company. WPI’s team conducted a formal review of this decision and concluded that the current level of market saturation would limit the benefits of the investment. Based on WPI’s analysis and recommended actions, the board subsequently reversed its decision and undertook a strategic planning effort to identify more impactful investments.
