That sound you heard today around Noon Eastern Time was the market trying to digest USDA’s decision to triple China’s corn ending stocks. Earlier this week, China said it was revising its production figure higher, and USDA decided boosting the stocks number would be fun too. The net effect of USDA’s move is that world corn ending stocks are up 93 percent (yes, that’s the right number) from last month. Notably, that figure is still down 10 percent from 2017/18. WPI’s team was retained by the governing board of a U.S. industry organization to review a decision, reached by vote, to invest significant assets into the development and management of an export trading company. WPI’s team conducted a formal review of this decision and concluded that the current level of market saturation would limit the benefits of the investment.
