The scorching heat of June and July, along with the scarcity of meaningful rains, has caused a drought over more than half of the 48 contiguous states. Unfortunately, the outlook for August does not offer much relief. The outlook is for occasional scattered rains across the northern and eastern Corn Belt with the rest of the Belt remaining very dry.
