The current hot, dry conditions affecting Europe are raising concern about the impact on crop conditions. The area of concern includes northwestern France, the Benelux countries over to eastern Europe where it impacts Romania, Poland, Hungary, the Czech Republic and western Ukraine. In context, there is often around 15 percent of the EU territory incurring some form of dry conditions since it is a big geographic region, but this year is acutely dry in the east. Jonathan Spinoni of the European Drought Observatory says that climate change is causing Europe to become drier on average in summers. Weighing in on strategic realignment
WPI’s team was retained by the governing board of a U.S. industry organization to review a decision, reached by vote, to invest significant assets into the development and management of an export trading company. WPI’s team conducted a formal review of this decision and concluded that the current level of market saturation would limit the benefits of the investment. Based on WPI’s analysis and recommended actions, the board subsequently reversed its decision and undertook a strategic planning effort to identify more impactful investments.
