Export Sales and Shipments for July 21-27, 2023. Wheat: Net sales of 421,300 metric tons (MT) for 2023/2024 were up 81 percent from the previous week and 40 percent from the prior 4-week average. Export shipments of 507,400 MT were up 28 percent from the previous week and 54 percent from the prior 4-week average. The destinations were primarily to China (141,700 MT), Mexico (105,200 MT), the Philippines (45,900 MT), Vietnam (42,300 MT), and Japan (34,200 MT). Forecasting developments in production agriculture
On behalf of a private U.S. agricultural technology provider, WPI’s team generated an econometric model to forecast the movement of concentrated corn production north and west from the traditional U.S. Corn Belt. WPI’s model has subsequently provided quantitative support to a multi-million-dollar investment into short-season corn variety development. WPI’s methodology included a series of interviews with regional grain elevators and seed consultants.
