Export Sales and Shipments for August 23-29, 2024. Wheat: Net sales of 340,000 metric tons (MT) for 2024/2025 were down 36 percent from the previous week and 17 percent from the prior 4-week average. Export shipments of 638,100 MT--a marketing-year high--were up 11 percent from the previous week and 25 percent from the prior 4-week average. The destinations were primarily to the Philippines (139,900 MT), Mexico (120,500 MT, including 33,000 MT - late), Vietnam (66,000 MT), South Korea (53,000 MT), and Guatemala (37,800 MT). Corn: Net sales reductions of 173,100 MT for 2023/2024--a marketing-year low--were down noticeably from the previous week and from the prior 4-week average. Weighing in on strategic realignment
WPI’s team was retained by the governing board of a U.S. industry organization to review a decision, reached by vote, to invest significant assets into the development and management of an export trading company. WPI’s team conducted a formal review of this decision and concluded that the current level of market saturation would limit the benefits of the investment. Based on WPI’s analysis and recommended actions, the board subsequently reversed its decision and undertook a strategic planning effort to identify more impactful investments.
