Only Iowa Republican Senator Chuck Grassley voted no, a bipartisan tradition for senators from that state. While the House version of the legislation, which failed in a floor vote, attempts to slay perceived social monsters like the slothful receiving food aid, the Senate bill sticks to its knitting. The Senate bill focuses more on conservation and increases the land set aside under the Conservation Reserve Program by 1 million acres, and it should pass the Senate easily.
