The marketable surplus peaked in 2016/17 at 19.10 MMT, per the industry estimate. Erratic supplies have affected domestic demand, causing the latter to move from a 19.97 percent decline in 2015/16 to a 19.59 percent increase in 2016/17 when stocks were at the highest. The government of India (GOI), though, has projected the increase in supplies will drop from a high of 14.8 percent in 2016/17 to a low of 0.90 percent in 2018/19. WPI’s team was retained by the governing board of a U.S. industry organization to review a decision, reached by vote, to invest significant assets into the development and management of an export trading company.
