NOAA updates its long-term weather forecasts near the end of each month, and the April updates were released late last week. There have been some concerns about the cool and wet spring season that has caused/threatened to cause planting delays and perhaps even some prevented planting across parts of the western Corn Belt and northern Plains. It is still early in the season, though, especially for corn and soybean planting. Soil conditions can change rapidly, and all are aware that today’s farmers can plant at an incredibly fast pace.
