Grain and soy futures prices were slightly firmer overnight across the board. Chicago and KC wheat were up 4-5 cents at one point with corn and soybeans 2-3 cents higher. This firmness carried over to the day session with all prices entirely green until late selling by index funds dropped wheat prices a few cents, which was enough to close deferred KC months down a quarter- to a half-cent. Soybeans were up as much as 7 cents before closing 5-5.5 cents higher. Corn futures prices were stuck in a 3-cent trading range, although they were all higher than Tuesday’s closes and finished the day with gains of 1.25-2 cents. Weighing in on strategic realignment
WPI’s team was retained by the governing board of a U.S. industry organization to review a decision, reached by vote, to invest significant assets into the development and management of an export trading company. WPI’s team conducted a formal review of this decision and concluded that the current level of market saturation would limit the benefits of the investment. Based on WPI’s analysis and recommended actions, the board subsequently reversed its decision and undertook a strategic planning effort to identify more impactful investments.
